This Budapest bus service will be closed: here are the alternatives
A bus service of BKK, the transport company of Budapest, will be discontinued from 18 March. The reason is under-utilisation. However, fret not, as there are many alternatives to bus nr. 109. Read below what they are.
Bus line nr. 109 will cease operation
The 109 bus service will be discontinued from 18 March due to under-utilisation, Telex has learned. The bus line nr. 109 was launched in January 2016 with the transfer of the Buda interconnecting tram network. 109 currently runs from Óbuda to Batthyány Square.
Due to customer feedback, the result of the public consultation, the consultation with he municipality of District 3 and the extremely low passenger traffic on the separate section of the bus 109 between Margit Bridge and Batthyány Square, BKK decided to discontinue the service in the future.
What are the alternatives?
In response to Telex’s request, BKK suggested the following bus lines instead of line nr. 109:
- bus nr. 9, which will now run more frequently: every 6-7 minutes during peak hours,
- bus nr. 17,
- bus nr.19,
- tram nr. 41,
- and the H5 HÉV.
